From 7–13 September 2025, Australia will once again come together to mark National Child Protection Week (NCPW), a vital reminder of our shared responsibility to keep children safe and supported.
This year’s theme, “EVERY CONVERSATION MATTERS: Shifting Conversation to Action”, highlights that while open dialogue is essential, real change only comes when we move from words to action.
At Thrive House, we recognise that meaningful conversations can:
- Raise awareness
- Challenge harmful norms
- Spark new ideas
But conversations alone are not enough. To truly protect children, we must take steps that create safer environments, strengthen community support systems, and empower every child to feel safe, cared for, and protected.
The Thrivelings’ Challenge: Bake It Better!
This year, the Thrivelings are embracing the theme of shifting conversations to actions with their fun and creative “BAKE IT BETTER” Challenge!
Here’s how it works:
- Each House and staff member will be provided with a baking kit to spark creative ideas.
- Using a simple box of cake, cookie, or brownie mix, teams are encouraged to think outside the box and turn everyday mixes into extraordinary creations.
- Between 7–13 September, staff and young people will brainstorm, bake, and bring their ideas to life.
The Competition
The Thrivelings will hold a taste-test competition at Thrive House , where they’ll judge the most creative and delicious entries. Winners will be crowned for truly baking it “better than the box” and will take home some BIG prizes!
Rules of the challenge are simple:
- Grab a box of cake, cookie, or brownie mix.
- Have a conversation about how to make it even better.
- Shift that conversation into action, bake your creative treats!
- Capture some photos of your creations before you eat them.
- Share your photos and recipes with us hello@thrivehouse.com.au
The Bake It Better Challenge is about more than just baking, it’s a fun, hands-on way to show how conversations can spark ideas, inspire creativity, and lead to real action.
By working together (and sharing some delicious treats along the way), we can all play a role in building safer, stronger, and more connected communities for children.
