Queensland Children’s Week 2025

Children’s Week 2025 is more than just fun and games (though there will be plenty!). It’s about making visible that children have rights, to be safe, to play, to learn, to be heard. It’s about shifting our lens as a community: children are not just future adults, they are present citizens.

The national theme for 2025 is: “Everyone should know about children’s rights!”, based on Article 42 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Why this aligns with Thrive House values

At Thrive House our focus is on inclusion, empowerment and connection. Children’s Week helps reinforce these pillars by:

  • Recognising agency: When children know their rights, they are more likely to feel empowered, to ask questions, to engage, to participate.
  • Building belonging: Celebrations like this strengthen the message: “You belong. You matter.” For children who may feel marginalised or unheard, that is a powerful affirmation.
  • Strengthening community ties: Rights aren’t just individual, they’re social. Events and conversations bring families, educators and communities together in shared purpose.
  • Encouraging reflective practice: For our staff and service partners, rights-based thinking encourages ongoing reflection: Are we creating spaces where children are genuinely seen and heard?

We are committed to walking alongside children and families in this journey of recognition, celebration and empowerment. We hope you’ll join us, whether you’re a parent, an educator, a neighbour, a friend, to make this week meaningful.
