Welcoming Amy from Leeds Beckett University

Thrive House is delighted to welcome Amy, a second-year student from Leeds Beckett University, who is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Childhood Development and Play Therapy, to complete her placement with us.

Amy has travelled from Leeds, UK, to undertake this placement as part of a growing collaboration between Thrive House and Leeds Beckett University. This partnership supports students to apply their academic learning in real-world settings and to explore therapeutic approaches that are creative, evidence-informed and deeply person-centred.

Throughout her placement, Amy is gaining hands-on experience in Play Therapy, an approach that recognises play as a powerful tool for communication, emotional expression and regulation. Under the guidance of Dr John Connolly Behavioural Support Practitioner and alongside Linda Hunter, Executive Manager of Services and Registered Nurse, Amy is developing her skills in creating safe, supportive environments where individuals can explore feelings, build confidence and strengthen connections through play.

Amy- “As a student on placement, I am developing the confidence to apply my knowledge whilst still learning from those around me”

Play Therapy aligns closely with Thrive House values, supporting emotional wellbeing, choice and empowerment in ways that feel natural and accessible. Amy’s placement provides an opportunity to deepen this work while learning how play-based approaches can be thoughtfully embedded within community and therapeutic settings.

We are pleased to work alongside Leeds Beckett University and to support emerging practitioners like Amy as they continue to develop their professional practice. We warmly welcome Amy to Thrive House and look forward to sharing in her learning journey.
